Google map labels for Thailand in english

The moment I heard about this I couldn’t help myself, still jumping with Joy. Google has finally answered my prayers… Gives me great plans for my travel portal. I can now increase the usability for my visitors as well as increase traffic to the site…

Now off to learning javascript and the Google Maps API. After that have to look for sources for GPS data… In case anyone knows of a good Quick n Dirty tutorial, please drop the link in the comments.

There’s a tutorial to get you started. Note that Javascript is a little trickier than most people think. Check w3schools.com for good JS tutorials.

It was something that pissed me off, trying to get gmaps to display in english in Thailand. If its top-notch scripting help then look no further than http://ejohn.org/blog/one-week-of-google-maps-1/ , John is starting a new weekly tutorial on the gmap API, should be interesting.

I have found the gmaps API documentation to be very clear and concise with plenty of good examples, check it at http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/

I am in the process of developing a site that heavily uses the gmaps API, using numerous markers, rollovers and overlays - as yet it is a secret-beta will maybe launch in a week or so. If you want to bounce ideas around then feel free to get in touch.

hello can you please tell me how you change the default language from thai to english.

@tony There is no language switch as such. Earlier the maps for Thailand showed labels in Thai, now they show in English as well as Thai.

Note: English labels appear in ‘map’ and ’satellite’ modes but not in ‘terrain’ mode (my favorite!)
